"SHIRODHARA" Relaxation headrest
SI/STI2D
Presentation:
Shirodhara is a relaxation device for the general public that regulates the temperature of a fluid via a water circuit controlled by a PIC microcontroller, offering a personalized relaxation experience.
Key features:
- Precise thermal regulation: constant maintenance of water temperature thanks to a PIC microcontroller and a DS18B20 sensor.
- Advanced control: pump and heating control via pulse width modulation (PWM) and on/off control (TOR).
- Open programmability: fully reprogrammable system, allowing modifications via a compatible serial programmer.
- Modeling and simulation: integration of a Matlab Simulink model for simulation and comparison with the real system.
- Comprehensive teaching materials: includes a multimedia teaching environment, user manual, PC interface manual, and practical exercises.
- Practical applications: used by pilot André Borschberg during the Solar Impulse solar aircraft's round-the-world flight for relaxation.
Educational Activities:
- Thermal regulation study: observe and analyze water temperature control in real time.
- Experimentation on system control: compare PID and ON/OFF control for the pump and heating.
- Programming and automation: modify parameters via the serial programmer to test different scenarios
- Modeling and simulation: use Matlab/Simulink to simulate the system and compare the results with the actual experiment
- Interdisciplinary projects: combine electronics, mechanics, and computer science to understand how the device works as a whole
- Relaxation and ergonomics: practical study of the effect of a regulated system on comfort and relaxation
